Mango mastani

Mastani is a form of milkshake which got its roots in Pune, Maharashtra. It is a very popular form of dessert drink loaded with icecream along with layers of dry fruits, cut fruit pieces, tutti frutti etc. Being very effortless and quick to prepare makes it so popular.

It is learnt that the dessert drink Mango Mastani got its name from the beautiful wife named Mastani of Bajirao Peshwa. Amongst other stories, it is rumoured that since the preparation is so awesome, people unintentionally say “Mast” after having it. Thats about what we learnt about the drink.

The said drink is so thick, captivating, rich and satisfying to have that it will leave you yearning for more. The layered textured of the embellished shake makes it so irresistible.

Mango Milkshake

The drink can be made with fresh mangoes as well as mango pulp so that your desire for this drink can be met all the year round. I love thick milk shakes and in this recipe use more quantity of mango and ice cream so that the shake is thick and creamy.

It is preferable that you keep the mango mastani thick as it tastes best when it is kept thick.

Mango Milkshake

Servings 2

Cook Time 2 mins


To Make Milkshake

  • 2 cups Chopped mangoes
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1 cup Chilled Milk

For Assembling

  • 4 tbsp Mango Chunks
  • 2 tbsp Tutti Frutti
  • 2 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Cashews
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Pistachios
  • 2 no. Glazed Cherries


To Make Milkshake

  • Put chopped mango pieces, sugar, vanilla ice cream and milk into a blender.
  • Wizz everything up until smooth. Milkshake is ready.

Assembling Mango Mastani

  • In a glass add few chopped mango pieces, tutti frutti and some dry fruits.
  • Now pour prepared mango milkshake into glasses.
  • Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Garnish with chopped dry fruits, tutti frutti and glazed cherries.



The drink can be made with fresh mangoes as well as canned mango pulp so that your desire for this drink can be met all the year round.
Do taste the preparation add sugar if required. The quantity of sugar shall depend upon how sweet the mangoes is.
Always use chilled milk and mangoes for making this shake.
